Bottle Cap Mural Project

Bottle caps can be transformed into beautiful pieces of art.

In an effort to balance the need for preservation of the historic brick on the side of 120 W Main St and the desire to add color and vibrancy to downtown, the Main Street Coordinating Committee transformed plastic bottle caps into a beautiful piece of art as a temporary mural. The side of Chinquapin Realty is now the home of our bottlecap mural. The design for this mural was inspired by student Bella Hutchens in 2018 and adapted by Josie Grogan, a local artist and member of the design subcommittee of the MSCC, who served as the project leader. The community rallied together and collected plastic bottle caps for a few months to ensure there were enough for this mural. We knew we needed a few thousand to cover 3, 4x8 pieces of plywood.
